88GT Power steering line lower bolt, grr!
Hi guys,
I drive an 88GT. My power steering pressure line sprung a leak. I'm trying to remove the darn thing but I cant seem to figure out how to get a wrench onto the lower fitting to untighten it. Can someone share their experiences? Thanks, Andy |
You might have to take the two bolts out holding the rack to the frame and the two bolts connecting rack to steering linkage. Once this is done you can easily tap the rack lose to get a wrench on the bolt.

I too had the same problem with my 88GT, going to have to try this way I guess.

Well darn... Ill have to consult my Haynes manual to figure out where these bolts are unless some kind soul would like to pipe in and let me know? I've never touched the steering related parts before...

Where you fluid lines screw into the rack - follow up from there and you'll see a spline shaft heading up towards your firewall. Right about where your header is on left side it connects into your steering linkage you'll find the two bolts to remove. You may have to rotate the steering wheel to get at the bolts. It's a little more difficult if you've got long-tube headers. After you disconnect make sure that you don't rotate your steering wheel.
