Question Lets learn some mechanic secrets

I'm curious about all those secret applications that tools are used for even though they weren't supposed too. Throw in your 2 cents with any and all ideas.

Just one of mine here: Ever lose a key to those pesky lock-nut lugnuts? Just use your handy sledge and "put" a socket over them and then hit it sideways with about 1/4 power. Now crank hard.......should pop right off.

Or removing door panels with a wire hanger bent into a "V".... just push the wire underneath the panel and then pull it back down with the "V" pinching the "doodad". Then pop toward you with authority....

You all have any more good ones??????

if your floats in your carb are stuck and you whack the **** out of it with a piece of pipe... the floats wont stick anymore (well for a little while!)

When arc welding, never weld on a damp concrete floor when wearing shorts, it will shock the crap out of you.

I mean, so I herd.

Cool

Put ChapStick on gaskets(mating surface) before you install them. For example, the thermostat housing, carb gaskets anywhere that you do alotta removal due to maintainance issues, etc. They won't stick to the surface, therefore allowing you to re-use the gaskets over again

Lightbulb

An arc welder on high can double as a cutting torch.

A weed popper makes an excellent door panel removing device.

Even the peskyist driveshaft bolts can be removed by a simple box end wrench. Just place it on the bolt hanging down, line up so you lay on your side, then kick directly down at it. A couple kicks will guarantee it losens. (Wearing thick soled shoes is recommended )
