Question 5-Speed question

I have a 90 LX 5.0. I have found a junk 5 speed 4 cyl car. Pretty sure the pedel assmbly is the same. I've seen here the input or maybe output shafts on 4 cyl 5 speed are not as strong as V8 5 speeds. Would it do for a while on the street? Can it be rebuilt with the stronger parts

Cool

The 4 cyl T-5 has a smaller diameter pilot shaft and a longer input shaft, and only has a 240 Ft/Lb rating. The input shaft can be swapped to a 5.0 version but still generally weaker like a early 5.0 non WC model.

The pedal assy and all the other stuff is fine for a T-5 swap. obviously the 2.3 bellhousing and cable setup wont interchange with a 5.0. The 2.3 cable comes out of the same place on the firewall, so just swap in a new 5.0 cable.

Thanks. That helped me decide what to do. A local junk yard wants $80 for pedels, cable, etc. Then I just buy a rebuilt trans. This guy want $100 for this whole car. (Firewall back)

The pedal assembly will definately work. The tranny might hold up for a few months as long as you dont get on it AT ALL. My friend went to a tranny shop and they "mistakenly"
put a 4cyl tranny onto his 5.0. he said it lasted about a week, but he was getting on it all the time.

Grab the whole car if you have room for it, bound to have an extra $20 worth of stuff, interior parts etc...
