'93 5.0 strut tower braces ??
Looking for suggestions on a strut tower brace for my '93 5.0.
Can anyone tell me what your using, would you recommend installing one-car is a ragtop so I assume any addition to the car will help tighten it up. One question that came up with these is it possible to install a "blind nut" for fastening the brace to the towers to aid in quick removal for engine work, or is it recommended to use conventional fasteners? Thanks for the help. |

Im running the Maximum Motorsports STB on mine. It is guaranteed to fit any intake manifold and bolts to the strongest points on the firewall - no drilling on the firewall, just on the strut towers. I have not heard anything about the quick disconnect, but on this one I can take off anything above the lower intake because the brace runs directly over the distributor. But it really isnt that bad to take off and put back on anyway. Hope this helps.

I agree that the MM brace is by far the best one on the market.
If you wanted to make uninstallation quicker you could insert the bolt from the underneath and tack weld it in place. Then you can take the brace on or off without a second wrench. Make sure you drill all of the holes and tighten everything BEFORE you weld so you can be sure everything lines up. You can put rubber covers, similar to vacum caps on the ends of the studs top make it look more presentable. Good luck.

MM tower brace
How does the brace stay in position at the firewall if it's not bolted-wouldn't there be some movement? Otherwise it looks like the one to go with. Thanks for the info guys!

There are two holes at the seams on the firewall already. You just put the supplied bolts thru the holes that are already there...one hole is just below the vacuum tree and the other is just to the side of the accumulator. These two points are supposed to be the strongest points on the firewall. Check it out...you will see them.

yea, the only holes you drill are on the strut towers.
