Post 94 GT + MAC Short-throw problem..

Hey, I have the Mac Short-throw, and love it, but the only problem I have is now that the shifter is shorter, my leather boot is bunching up in the front and back, causing really stiff shifting, and in the case of first gear, it actually disengages if I don't manually hold it in first..

I don't want to put the longer (stock) lever part back on, cause I love the short throws, but is my only answer to cut the leather boot??? Is there some kind of after-market exterior boot??

Thanks
