Default Hood stuck!

O.K., I did something stupid. I was checking the fluids in the Stang last weekend and shut the hood. I go out today to check them again, and my hood won't open! I pull the release, and there's no "pop", and the *&%$#@#*& pull breaks off the footwell! So, How the fark do I get my hood open? Help!

Ok, I'm speaking from experience on a 91' , but if you lay on your back under the bumper and look up, you will see the hood lock mechanism waaay up there. Now reach up to the drivers side of it and you will see/feel the remnants of the cable connecting to a little piece of metal, a rod. Just push up on it (wearing gloves, they pop violently) and the hood will pop open. Poke it with a stick or something. Granted, this may be more difficult if you actually have a bumper and an A/c unit in the way
