Post 95 Intake

I owned two fox body GT's, and was wondering why there is a curve at the intake to the TB? Will I able to buy an after market intake in the future?

Thanks again!

Yeah, but you might need an adapter of some sort:

Thanks again rtz, but i wonder why Ford made the 94-95 Mustangs with this elbow. This is the same engine that's in the 87-93 right?

The reason was hood clearance. Because of the slope on the stock hood, coupled with the new type of throttle body on the SN95's. You can run the earlier version on the 94-95's, but you will need a least a 1 inch raise on the hood.

The Edelbrock Performer intake went on my 94 with no clearance problems at all. I just had to trim a piece out of the hood insulation so it didn't rest on top of one corner of the upper intake.

My personal theory is that Ford just didn't want to re-engineer the T-bird engine line just to put the old style intake on the SN-95 motors. There is more than enough room for the earlier style intake and throttle bodies in the 94-95 bodies.

If you want to put different valve covers on the 94-95 engines you will have to put a spacer under the upper because of the location of the TB. Probably run into hood clearance problems then.
