Post '97 explorer intake

What kind of performance increase would I see by installing an upper and lower intake along with the 65mm TB from a '97 Explorer GT40P motor? Is it worth the trouble or should you go ahead and spend a little extra for an aftermarket setup? Are there major differences between this setup and the stock mustang intake? Also, if this would generate worthwhile performance gains , would this be a fairly simple "remove old, and install new" installation process? I'll be installing 3.73 gears shortly hopefully with an upgraded intake once I decide which way I want to go. Right now, I'm not concerned with 1/4 mile times, I just want the low-to-mid range throttle response that will make it fun on the street. Anyone have any experience on this subject?
