Default Abbot Box or reg speedo??

alright...well i was talkin to a place that installs gears cheap kinda near me. the guy said that i could buy a regular speedo ($20 or so) that wears out after 10K miles or buy an Abbot Box ($200) that will last the life of the car. now whats the diff or was he tryin to jab me as a noob?? i also dont know to buy a rebuild kit cause my car is older....extra money

fyi - he said he'd charge me $175 for labor only and i had to buy a gear through him which was about $190 (i figure thats about right) plus a new speedo for about $20 or so. i figure i will be lookin at about $450 or so....sound good??

That's about what I paid for my gears, installation and everything.
