Question Adjustable Proportioning Valve (Brakes)

Anyone using FRPP's adjustable proportioning valve?? I'm installing a '93 Cobra disc brake rear in my '89 GT and I was told that since the Cobra prop. valve has been discontinued by Ford, I should gut my existing prop. valve and use the adjustable valve downstream of it. Anyone ever do this??
