Default Valve Body over a Shift Kit? Advantages

I can't afford a transbrake valve body right now, so I am trying to decide wether to buy a shift kit or a valve body. I want to retain the automatic qualities, so I am not after a full manual. Can anyone tell me the advantages of a valvebody over a shift kit at this point?

I'm running a C4.

A Trans-brake holds the trans in 1st and reverse at the same time. Thus cancelling out each other and allowing the engine to build up torque. Upon release, the brake lets go of reverse and all that torque is released to 1st gear. You do get great launches, but the rest of your drivetrain better be able to handle all that torque or you will shatter things. A beefed up stall convertor is a must, stronger drive shaft,U-joints, and forged axles are probably a good idea too. But then all of that is wasted if you dont have the traction to put it all to the ground. Wide sticky tires, on slicks are in order. Also a trans-brake will only help with the launches, the rest of the valve body will remaiin the same, shifts points and stuff. I would add the shift kit first. It will give you faster shifts and higher shift points while beefing up the valve body. Then add the trans-brake later if you feel the need to.
