Which Injectors Can I Use?
I would like to use the biggest Injectors I can go with "without" any problems. Please share your experiences?
Here is my combo: 3.73 rear, Edlebrock Water Pump, Pulley's,Some type of Cam(??), Ported Edlebrock Intake, Edlebrock Aluminum Heads, Coated Long Tube Headers, Adjustable Clutch Cable, Flowmasters & X-Pipe, 70 MM TB & EGR Spacer. Here are my concerns: With my current combo, will the car run too rich and or poorly? Can adding an adj. fuel reg. cure all of these conditions? I was planning on getting a C&L 73 MM MAF and 30# Injectors?? Is the 73 MM MAF a drop in unit as far as installation (unbolt my stock MAF and bolt in a 73 MM MAF)? Will I have to add anything else other then the 73 MM MAF to run these 30# Injectors (electronics, etc.)? Are the 30# Injectors too big? What do you all think? TIA. Thanks, Jeff 90 GT 89 TTA 87 GN |

I have close to the same mods as you. I have the 24 lbs injectors and they work great. I don't see any problems if you get the 30lb injectors. I would recomend getting the adj fuel reg with a gauge. Also, make sure you new a new Mass Air Meter that is cal for 30lbs. If not, it will run like crap.

Why do you want to get the biggest injectors possible?
Definately make sure the MAF is properly calibrated for your injector size - whatever size you end up choosing. E

Also- will this work?

You are inbetween 24# and 30# for now. But when you add a turbo or supercharger, I think the 30#'s will be too small then.
I would go with whatever you find a better price now, then get 36# or 42# later. p.s. My 30# came off for 36#'s, and rea already spoken for.

I just bought the C&L 76mm and I like it. It's a good price ($229 to your door) and the guy I talked to (Lee) was extremely helpful. They can sell you the sample tubes for your future mods too at a reasonable rate. I got 3 tubes (19#, 24# and 30#) for like $20 extra. From what I've heard the stock injectors are good to 300+ hp with the stock fuel pressure and can support even more with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. I would say go with the 24# injectors (If you don't need them now you might with a few more minor mods)and a good fuel pressure regulator (I like the Kirban - $75). If you end up going with a turbo down the road you'll be spending thousands on the turbo and upgrading the rest of your fuel system (in tank pump, inline pump and accessories), guages and assorted extras, another $200 for 36#rs should be expected.

Ditto what durdis said.
C&L and Pro-M make nice meters. I have a Pro-M Bullet 75 mm MAF calibrated for my 24#ers and I like it. All chrome too! Easy install, they just bolt right in with the stock bolts and "plugs" in using the stock stuff too! A really easy install, maybe 15 mins - tops. Just an FYI, I'm making ~340 HP at the crank (290 HP at the wheels) and my 24's keep up just fine. Good luck with your decision. E
