Is there a question in there? The Mercurys came with 302s and the Mustangs had 302 HOs (5.0s).

And he was up on my back gate,
And I knew he had something bad,
Underneath that hood.
So I pushed it up to 110,

....i'm a little confused by the...question.....er......statement as well. The block is the same with all 302 windsor engines, except for when they came out with one piece rear main seals and the roller cam 302's came with taller lifter bores, but other than that the block is identical. The heads were also very similar through the years with the 302's with only a year or two where the 302HO had a different head (usually not better). The main differences lie in the type of cam, timing chain, and induction/exhaust that's on the car.

For 91 there were two basic versions of the 5.0 motor. The HO 225 hp in Mustangs, and Linclon LSC's This has the SEFI system with the HO firing order cam and different heads compared to the non HO motors. The Thunderbird/Cougars had a unique intake manifold and 200 hp, not sure if those were SEFI, or what heads or cam they used.

The standard 5.0 was 150 hp found in Crown vic's etc has a batch fire injection and a traditional 302 firing order, and the crappy heads. Most apps also had the intake plenum pointing to the drivers side as well. Hope this helps.
