Are all timing covers the same???
I need a replacement timing cover for my 92' roller 302 motor. Question is, will one from a 289 or a 351W work? Does it matter which year? Thanks for the replies.

I'm not real sure about the early covers. I think the best thing you can do is if you have it available just compare the 2.

The early covers were designed to be used with a water pump that flows in the opposite direction from the late model covers that the EFI 5.0s use. They also have a hole to run a mechanical fuel pump in the side. Don not use these covers with a 5.0 engine of the motor will overheat...get the a late model cover if you can. The best place to get them is at an engine core supply. Hope this helps!

He is right, they won't work. You will need one off of a 5.0 close to the same year. Not only will it overheat, but the gaskets won't match up and they will leak coolant from between the cover and the block.
