![]() Last night (and lately) the car has been revving when i push in the clutch to shift. This happen usally after i have gotten on the car for a lil bit. I will be shifting at say 2500 and the revs will shoot up to 3000 and come down slowly while the clutch is in. The car also holds a high idle speed in conjunction with the other problem. It might idle at 2000 and not come down. I shut the car off and it will be fine until i get on it again.
Is this a TPS problem? Do i need to reset it or bore out the mounting holes?? Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. ------------------ 89 5.0 GT White w/Blue Racing Stripes K&N, 73mm Mass Air, Ported and Polished Stock Heads, E303 Cam, MAC equal Length Headers, Off Road H-Pipe, Borla Mufflers, 3.73's Sway Bars, Strut Tower Brace, Subframe Connectors, Eibach Springs, Koni Adjustables/Reds, Pony 5 Stars, 1000 Watt JL Audio System, No P/S , No Smog Pump |

![]() Before you start twiddling with stuff, check for codes from your computer. If no codes, then look for a vacuum leak. Possibly the PCV valve popped out or something.
If that's not the problem, try unhooking the neg battery terminal for 15 minutes and then rehook it back up. Start car and let it idle for 10 minutes, all accessories off. Then shut it down and restart and let idle for another 10 minutes. All accessories on. ------------------ 351W 89 Mustang GT Convertible |

![]() My car does exactly that too. Same RPM and everything. Mine does it only when I shift from 3rd to fourth and 4th to 5th. Very annoying, I agree. I, for one, has had this happen to me since purchase of car. (Last May) I too will try disconnecting battery for a while, but any other suggestions?

![]() Same thing happened to my car too. I just unplugged the AIB(air idle bypass) valve from the throttle body. The car doesn't like cold starts but I just keep my lead foot on the pedal for a min. Soon I am going to clean the throttle pos. sensor and then plug the AIB back in. good luck

![]() Yeah, try either replacing/cleaning or unpluging the AIB valve thats on the side of the throttle body. Its in the front and cylinder shaped. It works like a choke, and it mess's with your idle pretty much.
