The Car That Was Screwed!
What was/is the car that had some serious potential, or a part of the equation down, but just didn't deliver on the rest?
Example, really aggressive looking car with no power. Or, really powerful car that looked terrible. My vote is for the Dodge Avenger: It looks kick *** , I have to admit, but with a weak V-6 it's just a crime. |

My personal opinion is the P.T. Cruiser. I actually like the retro idea behind it, but putting it on the Neon chassis with the weak engine ruined what it possibly could have been.
Another one for me was the Suburu SVX. I know sales hurt it and resale value was around my shoelaces, but I would have liked to see them work out the kinks on that car. I thought it looked pretty good. Except the front end of it. [This message has been edited by Power (edited 06-01-2001).] |

Yeah, I have to agree with Unit, the Dodge Avenger is one kick a$$ lookin car, but sucks when it comes to power.
I hate to say this, TimC's going to laugh at me, along with everyone else, but I think the new Mazda Miata is a nice looking car, if only they offered a V8 in that from the factory. I think the Monster Miata is one ugly looking car. Everyone I have seen has all kinds of vents, and those Fender Flares make it look like an areodynamic Volks Wagon Beetle. It may go like the hammers of hell, but it looks like it came from Sanford and Son. |

I gotta admit, I like the new Miata's too! Even if it had a turbocharger I'd love it. Rear wheel drive and lightweight, not to mention the fact that it's not made by Honda!

I agree the avenger this the winner here. As I was reading the question it immediately came to mind. But I thought that they only had 4 bangers in them. I remember the comercials here in Canada...There was an avenger in a show room with all kinds of lightning flash around. a voice was talking about how more lightning equals more more (refering to rpm). I then remember reading the first few reviews of the cars and the comments of the car's power were horrible. What a waste. ------------------ Driving: 1998 F-150 Far way in Edmonton==> 1995 Mustang GT |

My friend has a '98 Advenger. If I remember correctly, the 6 was only available with the automatic trans. at the time.
This one has a 5 speed, 4 banger. It does surprisingly well with the 4. ------------------ '89 LX 5.0 - 5 speed. Original Owner '94 E-150 Conversion Van |
