Default Another Black Magic Fan Question

I was reading Falcons Talon's post and am concerned about the alt upgrade requirement. I just purchased one for my 92 LX that has stock alt. Will I have problems with stock alt? Another "?" does anyone know if a weld draglite 15X8 will clear the stock calipers on the front?

I had no problems with a Black Magic and a stock alternator. The best way to run the fan is to hook it to your key so when you shut the car off the fan will shut off. If not it will run until the desired temperature is reached and sitting it a hot parking lot or wherever it make a while, long enough to keep your car from starting.

I had one in my 91GT. Absolute junk in my book. It actually made my car run hotter than before. I didn't have any problems with the stock alt., but the fan suddenly broker after only 2 months of use! Your better off trying to find a fan from a 94-95 GT

Stock alt is fine - as long as you don't install underdrive pullies with BlackMagic fan..

We've got one on our 88GT project and it works great, radiator went bad on us - so we put a Fluidyne in and temp never really gets higher than 195 (traffic) with a 180 stat.

We've got ours strapped to the ignition -so it only comes in when iginition is on. We did upgrade to a 3G alt because our stock one was bad. Only thing I would suggest is you put a switch to kill the fan while you're trying to crank the motor. With the starter and fan pulling lots of amps from the battery - the motor kicks over slow.

I ran the BM fan with stock alternator and underdrives (including the alternator pulley) without a problem. I ended up having a wiring problem and the POS took a crap on me though. I'm going to an SN95 fan and 130amp alternator now.
