![]() OK just got off phone with machine shop. I could not for the life of me remember what pistons I put in my 306 when I first put it together over 3 years ago. So I call and they tell me that I had Cast (hyper) Flat Top .030 over 86 style pistons. Now with my Gt-40 heads on the way and wanting to run a Trick Flow stage 1 cam. Im not sure if it will work or not.. Anyone have any idea how think the top's of the 86 pistons are. How much can I dish the pistons without worrying about cutting through the top???
Can I cut the pistons enough to run the stock size valves and the Trick flow Stage 1 cam?? Here are the cam specs: Specifications: * Advertised Duration: 275 intake/279 exhaust * Duration at .050 in. lift: 221 intake/225 exhaust * Gross valve lift: .499 in. intake/.510 in. exhaust * Lobe Separation: 112 degrees * RPM Range: 2,000 to 5,500 Any help is Greatly appreciated Thanks Bradley

![]() Do yo remeber where you got the pistons from?? They can be flat tops but have valve reliefs that can fit the extra lift.

![]() why do you use all these 86 parts? I believe you said you had 86 heads too, but on an 88?
