Question Are any factory alum. driveshafts any good?

I have seen them on police cars and aerostar vans and other fords. some of my friends say they are the same as the aftermarket.,but just need shortened.. It is for a drag car and i dont want to find out the hard way.

See if you can get some specs from your Ford dealer (without actually buying one) and compare to the FRPP driveshaft. Although, doesn't shortening a driveshaft create a weak spot where they have to weld it back together? I remember my brother had this done when he swapped a 302 into his old Maverick and the guy at the shop that did it was concerned about how much power he'd be running.

I sure hope so. I just purchased/installed the FMS G model aluminum driveshaft for my stang. We'll find out in a couple of months if they're (the shafts), are strong enough.

Done! damn that was realy quick and painless. Its almost as easy as installing a drop in air filter Its not drasticly lighter than my original though. I realy wanted the stronger U joints that it came with. Well it works great so far, no complaints.
