Default Any tips on getting more torque out of a stock motor?

I have a stock motor and intend to keep it for street only (5500rpm max). What are some ideas on getting more "seat of the pants" power that I could do? Tips like keeping my stock headers for low end is one that I've heard. Adding gears is another but I already have 3.55. What kind of heads, intake, etc. would work for me?
