![]() I have the opportunity to buy a complete induction system for 850 bucks, everything is in like new condition. Here is what it has. GT40 intake, edelbrock 70mm throttle body with matching egr spacer, 75mm pro-m bullet, mac cold air kit(the one with the crome pipe) and also a lunati 51017? cam, I think that is the right number, it has like a 536 lift I think. What do you guys think of all that stuff? How much do you think that would improve a stock 5.0 with nothing but exhaust done. Will that cam work with stock pistons? Thanks for the help guys, John

![]() The cam isn't about to help you without heads. I'd pass on the deal, it doesn't sound all that great to me. For a package deal like that, $600 would be a really good deal. I think you can do better than $850, but you'll have to shop around.
If you're not really attached to the GT-40, the Cobra is a heck of a lot cheaper and every bit as good. |

![]() What do you think about that setup and a pair of tw heads? I was planning on a set of those in the future anyway for the 331 I am TRYING to build, but it seems to be more money than I thought.

![]() I agree with Unit, you should pass on it.
I think the MAC cold air kit with the chrome tubing is a waste of money. The chrome metal just retains heat and the thing is more of a hot-air induction than it is cold-air induction. The 70mm tb is also overkill. Unless you are making some serious hp then 65mm will be fine. But in the future when you do decide to start doing stuff like this, you won't need to do anything to your computer until you start making some serious hp

![]() Alright thanks guys. Oh yeah I was just curious, How much can you do to an engine before having to upgrade the injectors? How far will the 19# injectors go? Thanks, John

![]() My friend has Cobra Upper and lower, cam, roller rockers, and some other mods (he runs 12.8) and he still has the stock injectors in his car.
Now once you go NOS, or blower you will definetely need to upgrade. 24 for the NOS, or 30 for the blower. Ian

![]() If you stay N/A, chances are you won't need bigger injectors. The 19lbers will support 350hp or so. If you go all out with the engine. IE Holley intake, custom grind, and TW heads, then you'll need the 24ers. Upgrading to new injectors is a good idea if they have many miles on them, just so you know the entire fuel system is functioning right.
You will need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Spending $200 for better injectors is a pittance compared to spending $4k for a new engine. Go with the 70mm T/B if you go serious N/A. The guys making the big power are running them, and that's who I'd trust to have the combo's right. ![]() |
