Question anyone did a carb conversion and still used stock ignition system????

Just curious, i am doing a carb conversion right now and was wondering if there was a way to still use the computer and stock ignition system to power the car??? Or do I have to go ahead and buy a new ignition box and coil and Distributor. the car is a 88 buy the way.

thanks

If there is a way to do it, I haven't heard it. The stock ignition, as you know, has no ability to advance the timing without the ECM, and the ECM needs input from all of it's sensors to operate properly. If it has no injectors pulse width to control, it's not going to be able to control the richness of the exhaust, and would continue retarding the timeing until the engine quit running.

Take care,
-Chris

Default efi dist without computer

I can't remember where I found this or even if it will work but here goes the wiring steup for using a efi dist. without a computer

starting at the bottom of the module

4 start signal (starter solenoid wire)
3 ignition switched 12 v power source
2 negative side of coil
1 ground

Like I said I don't even know if it will work but its worth a try!
good luck and let me know if it works!
