Red face pro 5.0 shifter install problem

well I got as far as i removed the four bolts which hold the
old shifter to the trans. I couldn't get the old shifter out.

So back together it went for work tommorrow....

Is the old shifter need to be hit with something or pried off
when the four bolts are removed to get it out??

all help appreciated !

When you put the new shifter on, put a nice size bead of black silicone around the tranny when the shifter meets the tranny. This will help keep then tranny fluid in Because you'll have to do this, that is why you can't get the old shifter off. It also has the silicone on there. Just get a nice pry bar and wedge it in there. It will take some effort.

I just went through the same issue when installing my Pro-5.0 on my Tremec. The sealant will hold pretty firm, so you'll really have to pull on it or use a screwdriver at an angle to pry off the old shifter base.

Good luck,
E

I just got under my car and used a long handle screwdriver and popped it off.
