Anyone running a box upper intake?
 

Anyone using a Downs, Cartech, or Comp polymer upper, I was just looking for your opinions based on experience. Also, are you running a power adder or not? Thanks.

A friend is running the downs upper. I don't have alot of experience, but I'll offer what I know or have heard. They don't work well with NA setups unless it's a high compression, high hp setup. They kill torque, that's why you'll see them mostly on forced induction setups. As far as the power adder, see sig. Dart Jrs currently being installed, was going to upgrade the turbo too, but I want to see what kind of power I can make with this one first.

I used a downs box upper till I put in the 351... I ran dart srs with it and an extrude honed gt 40 lower. Worked great with the blower...not as much torque on the bottom, but then it was easier on the launch with 373's.

My experince and reading indicates that a "box upper" is best for high rpm (6,000 plus rpm) thats where it really performs. A great intake for a high rpm motor (bullet proof) on the track with forced induction.

For the street I would stick with a long runner intake...... keep the power down in a more usable rpm band.
