Anyone use locktite on rocker bolts?
I think my 1.7's are loosening up, is it alright to use the blue locktite on them?

You shouldn't have to use lock-tite on them. I've never heard of that being done. If they keep coming loose, they're probably not adjusted when the valve is fully closed. I'm assuming the crane is a hydraulic cam. Are you experienced at setting valves?

I set them at 1/2-3/4 turn of preload, and the valves are shut all the way.
They were silent when I adjusted them, and they've progressively gotten louder and louder. I'm not sure if they are loosening, but I'm going to pull the valve covers and see if they've loosened. If so, I want to know if I can use locktite. It would suck to break off a rocker bolt from locktiting it, but it would suck just as bad to have a rocker come loose. |
