AOD to C4 swap....

well,

I have heard many good things about the C4 of late and I am rethinking my whole game plan, not only does it cost less, but I heard it was stronger than an ox. What is needed to swap my aod for a new C4?

I know, I know, but you have the Lentech, this is not installed. And I am starting to hear issues that it is a pain to drive this on the highway, odd shifts, etc.

So deleting the whole thought about the Lentech for now. What is needed to swap out my AOD to a C4, I was thinking about trying this first.

Thanks in advance.

Wow...an uninstalled Lentech and you're already looking at a C4? Ok Capt. Moneybags. Hehe. Seriously though, you'll need (I think) a C4 bellhouse, a new input shaft, shifter cable, and preferably a 3spd shifter. I think the AOD shifter will work but that's just a guess...not gospel. My brother had a C4 in his old '91 LX 5.0L. My personal preference is an AOD. He had 3.73s in that thing and it was a ***** on the highway. I'm definitely a fan of overdrive. BTW, does Lentech include a converter in that price for the Street Terminator? I'm looking into one for my project this summer. Just curious.

I did the same thing five years ago, 5spdto c-4 You will need the small bellhousing c-4 I got mine from a 250cu Maverick (do not use one from a 200cu) also get the flexplate starter index plate, 1970 to 1978? then I had it rebuilt to v-8 specs By a friend, you will need to slide the crossmember forward, grind the spot welds. I used a AOD shifter, but the lever that goes into the trans is out of production. It took me a long time to do this , the results are worth it, I have 3.73 and on the highway it TACHS 3200 at 60mph (this is with a 8" converter) This is not my daily driver

you need a shifter w/cable, and of course the tranny and converter. who ever you get it from (dynamic is my choice) use the big bellhousing. this way you will not need a new flywheel also. get a tranny cooler too. you dont need a new input shaft or anything else. obviously the tranny comes with all its parts or you shouldnt buy it from that place.
