It's not bad at all. The hardest part is the pedal assembly (for me anyway). After that its like changing a clutch. Here's what I got:
Used motor w/T-5 still on it: 300
clutch/p-plate 160
used Pro 5.0 115
Hurst handle/console plate 50
cable and quadrant 100
pedal assembly 50
pilot bushing 10
rear main seal 10
It took me about 20 hours by myself/first time doing it. I think the cost really depends on how much you get the tranny for. I haven't had a chance to drive it yet though because of some wiring problems (see prev. post). I sold my AOD for $150 and my B&M hammer shifter (great shifter by the way) for $130.
