Attention pro mechanics.
I know this a mustang site but please i really need your help on this one guys. I'm going to ask advice for another make.
I just replaced rotors, calipers, pads on my uncle's 89 plymouth acclaim. Now the thing will not brake at all, there's no pressure on the pedal, i tried bleeding the system about 1000 times and no pressure still. i see the fluid coming from the bleedings and everything so its okay. any ideas why this is happening? everything is new and got it from pep boys. mostlike the master cyl has air. damn i dont want to spend the weekend on this piece of chit ! thanks |
I know what you mean. I took on a project to do the head on my brother's Geo Metro. What a pain.
What did you do to bleed the system? ------------------ 351W 89 Mustang GT Convertible |
jimberg, i had my uncle pump the brakes a few times and waited for the right moment to lock the bolt - bleeders. i did this on both sides and nothing. it makes no difference; the pedal its soft and no pressure at all.
someone mentioned about bleeding the master cyl. i didnt even know that was possible. what do you think anyone? |
also
someone else mentioned to use snug fitting hose and pore brake fluid through the master cyl valve. ? |
When bleeding brakes you should start with the wheel cylinder that is the furthest from the master cylinder, then move to the next closest and so on. You should go through all four wheels at this point.
The use of a bleeding kit will make this task easier. But, it is not required...I would use one though...I like tools http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif If you installed a new master cylinder you should bench bleed them before install. But, you can still bleed the system if you have not. It just takes longer. It does not sound like you put a new master cylinder in...did you? That reminds me jimberg, how's the Metro coming along? ------------------ fordgasm CLICK HERE to see my 87 GT |
