Attn: Dan McClain
Hey Dan, did you have someone build your 377 or did you build it your self?
I am thinking about a 393 but I would like to have it built if I can save some money. What do you think would be the cheapest and best way to go(buy the ford motorsport 393 or have it built)? ------------------ James Cox nochevy@hotmail.com 1991 Mustang LX Best 1/8 time on motor 7.686 @90.20mph |

The easiest way is to buy the crate motor, the most expensive way is to pay someone else to custom build an engine for you, and the the only way I've ever found to make sure it's done the way you want is to do it yourself.
And, to answer your question... Yes, I built my 377 myself. I build all my own engines. Or, let me actually clarify the process... I buy all the needed parts myself. I then farmout any required machine work needed. I typically take each thing (boring, porting, balancing, etc) to different people. Each being the best, and the one I trust, with each thing (i.e. don't put all your eggs in one basket, they usually F it up!). I then assemble my own engine and do all installation work. One of these days, I will get the project car section done. The whole thing will be covered there. I have over 100 pictures of the engine going together. ------------------ Dan McClain, Editor The Mustang Works Magazine 1991 Mustang GT - NOVI Supercharged 377 Stroker 1999 Ford Lightning SVT - 2000 Prototype updated by Roush [This message has been edited by Dan McClain (edited 01-01-2001).] |

FoxBody, yes. I own and operate MustangWorks.com and FunFord.com. I founded MW is 1995, and FFW Online in 1996. I'm usually so busy keeping up with everything, I don't get in here to much these days. I must have scared everyone to start popping in lately!
FiveO, research is a good thing. And, the most important lesson I can give you that I've learned over the years is don't rush it, take your time, and do it right (with the right parts) the first time...! ------------------ Dan McClain, Editor The Mustang Works Magazine 1991 Mustang GT - NOVI Supercharged 377 Stroker 1999 Ford Lightning SVT - 2000 Prototype updated by Roush |

Thanks guys, but it's about to get a whole lot better. Just a few more weeks now I'd say. And, NOW for FunFord.com! Check out the ALL NEW FunFord.com site. It's a good idea of what's to come for Mustang Works.

That's an awesome intro @ FF.com site. The site is well done. Looks very up-to-date. I could see MW with that type of "modernizing".
