Automatic to Manual Conversion Question
 

Hi, I've got a 79 5.0 and have been doing alot of upgrades to it, but what it really needs is to get rid of that damn C3. I was looking at a Tremec on Summit for $1400 but i know i need alot more than just the tranny. Then i noticed the tranmissions in the 2001+ cobra's were a little nicer. Would it be plausible to get the guts (tranny, bellhousing, driveshaft, clutch pedal, fly wheel, linkage etc) out of a totalled cobra? Would they pretty easily fit into a 79, what mods you you think it would entail?

Will a 5 speed tremec from a 2001 cobra work?

pressure plate, clutch ,flywheel ,quadrant , bell housing , clutch pedal , drive shaft not sure about.

if you can find a cobra go for it.

ok, i foudn one, it says its low mileage (about 5K) but the price seems a little too good to be true (~$500), if it needs a rebuild how much would that run me?
