back fire??
i have an 88 gt with a few mods, but there is a small bck fire in the intake when i really get on it a first then i t will back fire and be fine till i get on it again. would that be somthing with fuel my fule presure is fine between 30 and 40 all the timevacume lines are all right. would it be something in the computer like will the computer take a while to recognise the my f cam and shaved heads and port intake and heads??
plez help me summer is here and i have no poney to drive |
Hey man mine 89 is doing the same thing, it like when you are driving and then you hit the gas to go fast it hesitates and make a backfire sound is that what your is doing.

I don't know if it's necessarily the same situation, but I had a small problem with hesitation a few years ago. My problem was solved by purchasing Taylor ignition wires to replace my old Motorsports wires, which were arcing pretty bad on certain cylinders.

sounds like it could be a timing or timing advance problem.
have your changed your timing from its stock setting? also check to see that it is stock or whereever the cam or other parts specify. i had the problem on my car with my timing was too advanced. it would hesitate for a second before it would take off and had small backfires while trying to start the car after it was warm.. tapped the timing down a little and the car starts perfectly every time and the hesitation is totally gone. what a big difference that made. |

After that check the fuel pressure with the vacuum off. If you are a 30psi at WOT chances are you are going lean, which will cause a intake backfire sometimes. |
