Post who lives at the track?

could someone tell me what the big hang up is about 1/4 mile numbers? on the street ,where we all seem to drive on a regular basis, is nothing like the track. racing is not usually staged, but often just getting beside someone( brand x usually) and going , either from cruising speed already, or from some kind of rolling start. either way, without some serious traction aids(really sticky tires, good suspension mods) the 60 foot is lack luster at best on radials on a dusty street. so winning is more about power. i prefer to beat something by out powering it, pulling away with you both moving already, mashing the throttle down and seeing who's got the power!is this not a better feeling to out power a ram air trans am or ss camaro? to watch the smug stupid look on there faces go sour when they watch you pull away from them as they try to find more pedal and dont get enough to catch up is priceless. just a few thoughts on racing on the street.

1/4 Mile time provide concrete facts about how fast your car is. Like when someone asks how fast your car is its a lot cooler(to me) to say I run 13s or 14s or 9s or whatever than to say its pretty fast or its really fast. Just my $.02

um.... it is how well you can react. if your allready rolling, all you have to do is put your foot through the radiator, to get a good start, it takes practice.

Well said Bowtie Eater I just returned from the track and although my car runs a 15.2 I beat a couple of stangs that run high 14's cause I killed them on reaction time for instance my last race of the night. I was racing some sort of old buik I pulled a .517 light .500 being perfect and he pulled a .913 I ran a 15.4 on that run he ran a 15.2 but I beat him across the line

Cool

Well on the street more power doesnt meen you'll will. if i was up beside you and just punched it with the n2o on i would spin and spin as you pulled away but since i do go to the track and know how to apply the power. its not so bad when you dont have alot of power to use you dont have to worry about the same things some of us do ( i hammered it in third the other day when i was just chugging along a speun the rear end) .On the street it would be over after i was done playing with you.
