Hi everybody. Scroll down to the bottom to get to the question, read on for details.

![]() I had a real shizzy time at the track last week. I was running 14.30 last fall with a completely stock engine, and the only mods being a 2000 stall converter, 3.73 gears, MSD ignition, underdrive pulleys, and a K&N filter. My friend blew up his engine, so I put his speed parts in combination with ones I was planning on installing later. Those parts are an Edelbrock Performer intake, E303 camshaft, Dynomax shorty headers & h-pipe, 24 lb injectors, Pro-M 77mm MAF sensor (calibrated to the injectors), 65mm TB, and 67mm EGR spacer. This combination ran 14.70. I was quite upset as you can imagine. With the stock components, the launches were great. The 2000 stall seemed to work perfectly. My belief is that this isn't a high enough stall with the E303, reason being that it seems to bog so damn bad out of the hole, and seems to SCREAM just as it hits 3000. My friends watching (and my 60') confirmed this: crap on takeoff, watch out after it gets moving. It just so happens that a customer at my store has a PI converter he was using in his 5.0L AOD'd Crown Vic. He only drove with it installed for about 1000 miles, because the car was hit in the azz. Now he wants to sell the converter to me for about $300 or so. He also has 42 lb injectors and matching MAF, and will let the whole package go for $500. Question is, will this 3000 stall converter be livable on the street, and do you think it will provide the take-off that I'm looking for? Everything is peachy above ~3000rpm. Thanks for your time. ![]()

The 3000 is fine on the street, but will eat more gas.

Is it a lockup converter? What are you gonna do w/ those 42's? Also what was your 60' and mph? Skyler

Like Sky said, the 3000 converter would be a good compliment on the street and be what your looking for. And about the 42's and matching maf, I might be interested in those if you have no use for them. Shoot me a pm and let me know what kind they.

It is a lock-up converter, Sky. This is why I think it's not going to totally KILL my mileage yet still give me some take-off. Even then, who needs gas mileage? ![]() Sorry 91GTturbo, I'll be using the injectors on my 351 stroker/blower combo, which is still in progress, hehehe. The guy says that they're Ford injectors, so that usually means they're Nippondenso (ND). As for the MAF, I don't know yet. I already have the 77mm for mine, and I'll either send it back to Pro-Flo and have it recalibrated, or I'll just tweak it with the EEC Tuner software. I might sell the one this guy has, though. I'll keep you guys informed! ![]()

just a thought, was your cam degreed properly, and i dont mean installed "straight up". your cam could be to far advanced or retarded while being installed "straight up" the only way to know for sure is to degree your cam. It's amazing the difference just 4 degrees retarded or advanced (cam timing) will do for you off the line. Im not sure which will give you better bottom end torque so check with the cam manafacture. It might just be that simple.
