Balancer: Removing questions???

My buddy has a '90 lx 5.0, and we are taking the balancer off of it tonight, with the motor still in the car. we were wondering what's the easiest way to keep the damn crank from turning when we do thsi?? put some big screw drivers through the balancer and up under the motor, leave the transmission (5-speed) in gear, what?? Anyone have any advice? we alread have a balancer puller, so that's not a problem...just keeping it from turning will be. thanks, josh

Hey guys i just did that this weekend. To loosen the nut i jammed the balancer with a screwdriver. Then i found out about putting the transmission on 1st gear. Make sure that the emergency break is tight. And you have to use a large breaker bar. Good luck.

Well if you have an air gun or something, then you won't have a problem getting that bolt out and turning the engine over. Then just use the puller, and it should turn over as your not turning the balancer just that threaded piece against the crank to push the balancer off. Hope that helps...
