Balancer?
I thought the the counterweight in the flywheel and the balancer were supposed to match. I was doing some searching and I found a spec sheet that says that 82-95 mustangs had 50 oz. flywheel counterweight and a 32 oz. damper counterweight. I will be ordering a new balancer today and I need to be sure what is correct. Thanks in advance.

You bring up a good point that requires explaining. The correct balancer actually does have a 34 ounce weight attached, not a 50 ounce. It works like this: 1979 and older 302's have an internal imbalance that is corrected by adding equal weights to both ends; a flywheel with a 28.2 ounce weight and a harmonic balancer with a 28.2 ounce weight. These are referred to as a 28 ounce set. 1982 and later 302's have an internal imbalance that is corrected by adding two different weights at each end; a flywheel with a 50 ounce weight and a harmonic balancer with a 34 ounce weight. To simplify things, these are referred to as a 50 ounce set. If your balancer is a "34 ounce balancer", then it it designed to be used with a "50 ounce flywheel".
I hope this explains it for you. Take care, -Chris
