BBK Header ports wrong
I just got a set of BBK equal chrome shorties for my 94 and the header ports are too big for the heads. The bottom of the header port extends too far down, it leaves the bottom edge of the exhuast port on the head uncovered.
Has any one else run into this? Thanks, Eddie |
Are you sure you got the right ones? Send them back, tell them what is up. Also you still have stock heads right. They should line up correctly.

I have a set of bbk jet hot coated mine also seem to hang down too far and i have a exhaust leak only when i step on the gas BUT the problem just came up about a month ago and i cant tell if its the collector or the overhang. I am going to replace the gaskets and tighten down the flange bolts i'll let you know what i come up with.

I think he means the tubes on the headers are SO large that they hang down so far on the head that they dont even touch the head at the bottom of the flange, cause I guess the head contours back into the direction of the block or something at that point. like maybe where the spark plug hole is, like you could hook your finger in the spark plug hole area and feel the inside of the header tube, though I would hope that it isnt THAT bad... my guess is maybe the flange was welded upside down or something to the holes to mount it are too low... I've got a set of my own comming though I dont have your body style.. I hope I dont have that problem

This just a shot in the dark but do you have your heads angle milled?

Chunky and guys,
Thanks for the input, I've been outa town a few days, just got back. Chunky, you understood perfectly the problem and you're right, its not so bad I can feel it with my finger. I think I'm gonna slot the bolt holes in the headers and center the header ports on the heads. This will give me about 2mm of metal to metal overlap all the way around. Eddie |
