BBK Whistle

I have talked to BBK and they were not helpful at all. I know anyone who has one of these are experiencing the same thing from what I have read. Some people like it, I do not. Anyone have a solution?

Hey guy...I've owned the BBK 70 and a 75mm Throttle Bodies and now run a FRPP 65mm. The 70mm from BBK whistled on mine also at part throttle until the day I sold it. Good news was the car ran great! But it was annoying and I never got a firm answer on WHY it did that. I recall several comments by folks I respect indicating it seemed to be inherent in the BBK 70mm...not all, but quite a few. I also ahd heard that drilling a small hole in the TB blade "may" cure it? Good luck towards a resolution because it is annoying isn't it?

I know it is common. My friend has the same one and that does it too. Sucks.

I have heard that drilling a small hole at an angle in the TB blade will eliminate the whistling sound. Not sure though as I have an Accufab TB that does'nt whistle.

Good luck,
E

Mine only whistles at hot chics http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif . Actually, it whistles on initial throttle, but not full throttle. I don't really mind it though.

it is the idle air motor ports.....

the back port is a huge chamber that then has a hole that goes into the actual throttle area....if you fill up that chamber so it is just a hole it will stop whistling....
I did this on mine after trying all the othe sugestions of drilling the plate , chamfering the holes etc.....this worked great.....if illed it with a thick pice of rubber with a hole drilled in it.

I have a 70mm BBK TB and it has never whistled at all.

I'm not sure what brand my 65mm TB is because it was on the car when I bought it and it doesn't have any insignia on it except for a raised "65mm" on it. However, it humms the theme to the Jeffersons at part throttle. It's actually quite soothing.
