Question belt change

Today I blew my air pump on my 90 LX and I am wondering if it is a bad thing to bypass it like I did. I realize that all it serves to do is pollution control but we have none of those strict rules where I live. As well is there any horsepower to be gained or lost in this situation?

If you don't have cats or emisson testing then go for it. You may pickup a bit of power but nothing huge.
