Post Belt Fits without A/C Smog pump and underdrives

I am having problems getting a belt that will work having underdrives no smog pump and no A/C, I have a 68.5 on there now and it is tight but eventely the belt strecthes down and touches the belt as it goes out to the alt. I think the tensioner just has to much force because it is up so high in position, I was thinking about taking the tensioner apart and cutting the spring inside but I did not know if there is a easier way or if not how much I should cut the spring inside.

Thanks
