My opinion is the explorer.
But fact, the edelbrock can be better because you can remove the upper plenum cover, and port the h3ll out of it if needed......i do like my explorer, outflows the cobra, and my car has lots of lowend torque.

tfs street has good looks for good price, cfm flows are similair to cobra/gt40 and performer.

typhoon intake: looks like an edelbrock but cheaper, will work well with a cammed motor though, i like it.

It all depends on what you're planning on doing with the engine. Stroker? Stock 302 with some of the regular 'bolt-ons'? Weekend warrior?

If you're going to invest in a nice set of heads/cam/intake...the Holley is hard to beat in terms of HP up top, but it's a bit pricey. Trick Flow makes a nice set of intakes that are reasonably priced. There's the 'Street' model and the 'Track Heat' model if you're looking for something more aggressive.

A little more information on what you're looking to build-up in the end will help us point you in the right direction.

Hope this helps,
E

I agree about matching the intake to the heads you have now, or what heads you will wind up with. For heads that flow less than 200 cfm, it's hard to beat a professionally ported lower intake or, the Cobra family intakes which include the Explorer - they leave some roon for growth up to about 250cfm. They can be found cheaper than the aftermarket intakes and so they get better "bang for the buck" normally - unless you run across a killer deal on an aftermarket intake that is a good match for the heads yuou'll be using.

Not sure what heads I want to get, but I will get them eventually. I am looking to get about 400 hp or an 11 second car. Whichever is faster. Starting with bolt-ons. No spray, and maybe a supercharger down the line. I will probably turn it into at least a 327 but not until the engine goes and it's running strong right now.
