![]() 351w Short block
stock 5.0 fuel lines trick flow twisted wedge heads trick flow "351" intake 24lb injectors pro-m 77mm mass air trick flow 1.6 Rocker arms crane hi-6 ignition & ps-91 coil 190lph pump & AFPR Stock 5.0 t-5 (when she blows, probably a Termec TKO) bbk 70mm t-body & egr 3.55 or 3.73 gears drop engine mounts new flywheel new distributor new (or used) oil pan NOW FOR A CAM, IT WILL BE A ROLLER CAM, HOW MUCH LIFT COULD I HAVE WITHOUT PISTON-TO-VALVE PROBLEM? I want to stick to the trick flow name if possible & was wondering if I should use stage 1(Duration@.050 221*/225*, lift.499/.510, Lobe seperation 112*) Stage 2(duration 224*/232*, lift.542/.563, lobe sep 112*) or stage 3( duration236*/248*, lift .574/.595, lobe 110*) cam? I dont want to cut the pistons, but might get 10-12:1 compression pistons(dont know what the stock 351has?) also for pushrods I have no clue. I will use the stock 351 until funds grow, with the exception of fuel injection, but with the stock 5.0 19lb injs If you can suggest any other things missed. thanks! ------------------ 1988 Mustang GT, T-5 No Smog Pump (Shorty Belt), Dumps At The End Of Stock H-Pipe (Sounds Mean), K&N Air Filter (Stock Air Box, Removed air silendcer), 198.9 rwhp @4200 (235 Motor!!), 285 lbs-ft @2900 (336 Motor!!!). ![]() You need to decide what compression you're gonna run BEFORE you pick your cam...if you're running 9:1 the tfs stage one aint bad...neither is a e or f 303

![]() Sorry to rain on you're parade, but neither of these cams will work in a 351. The 351 was never offered with a roller cam and lifters so all of them have short lifter bores for flat tappet cams. You will need to have a custom, small base circle cam made for you're application and purchase a roller cam conversion kit. The stage 1 TFS cam is not agressive enough for the heads anyways. It is also a dual pattern design which is not needed because the TFS exhaust ports flow very well, within 80% of the intake i believe. A dual pattern cam is not needed unless you drop below about 75%. A better cam would be around 225-230 duration at .050 on both sides with around 550 lift. To use this much lift though the pistons would have to be clearanced for the valves. Without doing this you're limited to about 520 lift (depending on duration) with TFS heads because of they're altered valve angle. You're best bet would be to talk to a performance engine builder and have them help you select a cam for you're combo.
