![]() Does anyone know where I could find a web site where I can listen to the difffernt sounds of mufflers/exhaust systems. My flotech exhaust I realized was like only a 2" or mabye even 1 5'8s or something horribly restrictive and I must get a new one so my motor and flow better. What size do you recomend and brand etc. Some people say 3" would be ok because I have got the weight "Under 2800 lbs" down further so I could give up some torque for more higher end horsepower. 2.5" - 3" sounds good to me. what do you all think ? Flowmaster, edelbrock, dynomax, borla, ?

![]() Try www.mustangexhaust.com. They have a bunch of sound clips their for you to listen to. I don't know if there is a need to go over 2.5" on the exhaust with the 5.0. As for free flowing mufflers, I went with magnapacks. Dynomax, Borla, SLP... all seem to have similair flow through designs. I would stay away from chambered mufflers if flow is what you are worried about. That includes flowmaster, Mac... etc.
Tha magnapacks are great by the way. Sounds awesome and doesn't drone like flowmasters. Stainless steel for that kind of money isn't a bad thing either ![]()

![]() I have Magnaflows on mine and love them. They are straight though design and have a really nice tone. My buddy runs them on his 93 GT also (the sound clip under X pipe on Mustangexhaust.com) and the X changes the sound a lot! Very exotic sounding.
Here's a clip of mine (BBK 1 3/4" longtubes, 2.5" H pipe, 2.5" Magnaflows): http://members.shaw.ca/jonathan.kudryk/jonnyk2.mp3 |

![]() Anyone running the flowmaster single chambers? Sound clips? I know mustang exhaust had one, but it wasn't very good. I just want to know if they have the same hollow sound as the 2 chambers, only louder?

![]() I tryed the one chambers on my 420 cubic motor with a 3.5 inch inlet and outlet. (Complete3.5 inch exhust) It sounded stupid. Way to f--king loud!!!! It sounded like I had a door slammer! Not a 9 sec car I was trying to hide. (intention) Went with Dr.Gas 3.5 X-pipe with the spintrap mufflers that would fit a bus! know it still sounds tough and I can work on it it im my garage with out going deaf. (my neighbors stil hate me
![]() my 2 cents (I am also out of the "how loud can we make it" phase.) |

![]() I would suggest flowmaster 2 chambers, 2.5 all the way, but I would stay H-pipe for sound and X-pipe for performance. I loved the way the H sounded and am not too crazy now about the X. It is very distinct though.

![]() I think the X-pipes sound a little smoother than H-pipes. Are there any other mufflers that sound like a 2 chambers, only a little louder? Also, do the 3 chambers sound just like the 2 chambers, only a little quiter???

![]() I do, they are awsome IMO!!!!
Need to have the DR.GAS x pipe to go with the mufflers. Its like back in the day, when you needed to have the Off-road h-pipe with 2-chamber Flowmasters. But anyway the x-pipe with Spintrapp mufflers have a unique sound. When your at 6,000 rpms it will sound like you are at 8,000 to people outside!! It smoothes out the pulse width of the exhust and still IMO still seems to have a raspy sound. I would give you a sound clip but dont know how or have the equiptment to do so. If you go to the Spintrapp website you can download some sound clips. Don't know the address but sure you can find it with your search engine. Good luck |

![]() I have the Sportmans XL' now.
I had the Pro Streets on a couple of years ago. They had a much louder tinsy sound to them on a 306. My 420 sounds more tame (even though its not) but alot deeper (must be the cubes and stuff). |
