After I moved my battery to the trunk I had slow and no start problems. (My original starter was probably marginal anyway.) I bought the small hi torque starter from the FRPP catalog and have been happy. I think it is the same starter that started coming from the factory from 92 or 93 on. It is smaller and lighter than the original one on my 89. If your car came with the older one, you will have to do some rewiring, but its nothing major.

yah, get a starter from a 93 5.0L stang.
As No Groc Getter said, you will have to do some minor re-wiring. This is because the 93 starter has its own solenoid on it. You only have to run 1 wire from your stock solenoid down to the starter and switch the position of one of the cables on the stock solenoid. Do a search on here and I'm sure you'll find step by step instructions. It's very easy.

hope this helps...

I have a Powermaster High torque mini racing starter "extreme" LOL
I love it... after my original died at 130,000 I went through 3 rebuilt ones in 3 months.. Then I got this one.... it was easy to install, and sounds cool, and is awesome! Never a problem, hot or cold! :)

Get the Genuine Ford replacement. Rebuilt ones, I went thru 3 myself...
You can also upgrate your old style to the newer smaller and faster ones.

Those ford mini starters are pretty good. I use to run one. But if you want a killer starter check out http://www.mean-green.com.
