Best upgrades without messing with the computer!?
What would be the best upgrades (bolt on or otherwise)that i could get but so that i wouldn't have to take my car to get reprogrammed? Or also, what is the most that could be done?

Knowing the year of the car is important. It will tell us what computer is in your car.

I wouldn't and didn't mess w/ the computer until I did my MAF/TB/injectors/fuel pump. At that time, it wouldn't idle quite right and would stall out after 3 minutes at idle. The JMS chip really helped (although there are some skeptics out there). But, you can do a lot before messing w/ chips.

You could get a complete exhaust system from header back. Then get a better flowing intake and heads, along with a mass air meter and tb. You should probably get a cold air induction kit or at least a K&N for your stock box.

Most of the 88 stangs are not MAF equipped. I would stay away from heads and cam changes until you upgrade it to a Mass Air Controlled computer.
Start with the exhaust (headers all the way back) and some underdrive pulleys. Gears are without a doubt the best performance modification that can be done. Later I would add a better intake and a larger throttle-body. Don't ignore the suspension.... ------------------ Eric - 89 Mustang LX coupe 302 - Cobra Intake - GT40p heads - TFS stage 1 cam - FRPP 1.6 roller rockers - Naturally Aspirated 3:73 gears - KYB shocks and struts - Eibach springs - HPM Mega-bite Jr lower control arms - HPM upper control arms |

ya, the 88's (cept for california) are speed density, and there are different rules for that....
gears are the best bang for buck, then headers/H-pipe (cat-back is just for sound, really), underdrives, get a k&n in your stock box. beyond that, i think you will need MAF. ------------------ 90LX AOD Convertable: Lakewood control arms, FMS springs.
