Best way to remove emblems?

I've got a pair of those stick-on "302" emblems laying around just waiting to replace the "5.0" emblems on the front fenders. How do I get the old emblems off w/o harming the paint? Are they stick-on or clipped on? Thanks for any help or suggestions!

The emblems are held on by glue.

One easy way to get them off is,take some DW-40 and spray it around the emblems and let sit for a half hour or so.Then take a piece of long string or tooth-floss and try to place it behind the emblems and slowly pull down.If they still don't want to come off, spray alittle more WD-40 on them and let sit awhile, they will come off.The WD-40 dissolves the glue..

Just remembered another method that works sometimes.

Take a hair-dryer and hold the hair dryer so it's facing towards the emblems, the hair dryer will allow the glue to get sticky again allowing you to remove them with a string or tooth-floss.

Hey, the dental floss worked great! Now how do I safely remove the glue that's still stuck on the paint and prep the surface for the new emblems?
