Better new times but they still stink
The last first time I went to the track I was only able to get down to 14.90 at about 94mph.
This time I went down to 14.59 at 97.35mph. This was after putting in a 2500 stall converter. I was noticing that my times would get slower as the tranny heated up. Is this normal and would it be wise for me to put a tranny cooler on or a deeper tranny fluid pan or even both? I think my car should definately be in the 13s but it's not tuned right. Do you guys have any recommendations for me. Thanks, Tony

yes aod just get worse when they heat up
I would get a cooler and a pan with what I seen in your sig I think you sould be running fast then 13s what kind of 60fts are you getting I would get it on a dyno and have it tuned

What tires do you use at the track?? How do you launch ??
yes get a cooler and maybe even a deep pan if possible. that converter heats up the fluid a bit more than stock cause of slippage

I would also ditch the 18s on the track and go with some 15s or 16s those 18s are going to slow you down..

Thanks guys...
Next payday I'm gonna order a deeper pan and cooler. I was running on street tires. I also need to invest in some wheels and tires for the track. I think my best 60ft time was 2.20. I was launching by doing a brake stand with the rpms at about 1700. I they go any higher, I roll through the line. When I get a chance, I'm gonna put it on a dyno too. The only problem is that I don't have much free time because of the wife and kids. It's just really frustrating with I see so many cars with less mods blowing me away...

you know, i think if you just get a good set of slicks, or even drag radials, you will see your car come alive, and your e.t plummet.

I know it can be upseting to run slower with more mods just remember if you need any more help were all here to help

One last thing...
I think my differential is gone or going out. When I would do my burnout, people were telling me that only one of my tires was spinning... I'm assuming that when I'm going down the track only one wheel is putting power to the ground. Could this be the cause of the crap times too. Thanks Guys...

traction baby, traction.
get some tire i have read that if you put the car in reverse before you do your burnout , it will help lock both tires in your differential. but just till you move again. once you do you have to put it in reverse again to help lock it up. |

What are you shifting at? That can be a big factor with a heads/cam/intake car. That MPH looks REALLY low for what you have. What altitude is the track at? What about fuel pressure, where is that set?

Moponys. i attached my timeslip i just ran Sunday. this was my first time drag racing. my opinion is you get a better cooler for your trans. then since you have a 94 i would recommend a chip for your mods. i hear that the 94-95's have some problems with mods. then i would get slicks. dont give up, if i can run these times with my mods below, then you can run even better with the bugs worked out easily! good luck!

Thanks for your replies guys...
I was manually shifting at 5800rpms and my fuel pressure was set at 48psi. The track altitude can be more that 3 or 4 hundred feet above sea level. I already have a custom jms chip with all the current mods burnt onto the chip. Besides the hot tranny I think one of the other things that is screwing me up is that my differential seems to be worn out. When I do my burnout, only one wheel is spinning. So Im guessing that only one wheel is putting power down to the groud when Im going down the track. What do you guys think?

That RPM for shifting sounds about right, but the fuel pressure sounds way high to me (~40 psi more like it?). Might want to tinker with the fuel pressure a bit and see if that helps. Other than that, next time note the temperature, humidity, and barometer when you're at the track and try altitude correcting it using some of the online programs available. The tranny and rearend can definitely affect your ET's as well.

well, both tires will help you off the line until a tire starts to spin, then all the power goes to that one tire and then the speed of that tire doubles, so as to increase the lack of traction you already have. take my recommendation above before you do your burnout and launch at the starting line. it cant hurt.

How do you like your sportsman pros? I ordered a set of 26x10.5 15's and they should be here any day now. Best 60' I could get with my 235/45ZR 17 Yoko's was a 2.199.
What kind of 60' times can you get with them and what pressure do you run them at @ the track? Do you do a dry burnout or just touch the waterbox with them? I'm hoping to get my 60's into the 1.8's with these tires.

i would go with a 4.10 with the aod. my buddy went from 3.55's to a 4.10 in his auto 95gt and it made a world of difference. he had all the same mods as you except the heads, and he could only get a 14.20 out of it(with the 3.55's)that dropped to 13.50 with the 4.10 and some slicks.

tarmon8r, I'm loving the sound of that. Last time at the track, I had a bad bog (too small of a pump shot)1/4 (14.07)with a 2.424 60' @ 104.77mph so with a decent 60' and getting some decent power for the full run rather than from 100 ft out I think I could get very low 13's. I guess we'll find out.
