It's just ATF.

There is a black rubber plug in the back of the pump motor (pass side) that is a PITA to get out. Once removed, I just cut a hole in the cap of a bottle of ATF and inserted a piece of hose that also fits into the hole in the pump. I filled it, plugged it (not all the way, just to where it was snug) and cycled the top a couple of times to bleed. Repeat till the top operated smoothly. You will hear the air bubbles while the pump is running. Once done, push the plug the rest of the way in and check for leaks. Good luck!
