I am currently looking at a set of Cobra wheels for the 88 I recently aquired. I can buy either 4 lug or 5 lug for the same price. I have a 4 lug car but here is the dilema. I intend to replace my rear end(at some point) with a T-bird rear end so that I can have rear disc brakes. Does the t-bird have 4 or 5 lugs with the disc rear end? and will it be easier to cange the front to 5 to match the rear or change the rear to match the front.........4 or 5 that is the question...............

I would say go with the 5 lug. That is what the t-bird has with the rear discs. For the front I think all you need is new rotors, or if you wanted you could do a 13" cobra swap for added whoa to your go.
plus 5 lugs look better on a 5 spoke rim. The four lugs look kinda funny because they don't line up with the spokes. later Conrad |
My freind has a T-bird disc brake setup in his car, and it has 4 lug pattern.
Maybe he swapped axles, but I dont think so, because he wants to go to 5 lug. Something to think about also, the t-bird rear is a little wider , and he is having tire clearance problems with his lowered car. he actully is running my old stock springs now because he couldnt get rid of the tire -rub, even with adjustable ride height lower rear controls arms cranked all the way up. |
