I recently removed my transmission and clutch assembly from my 88 GT. All of the bolts in the process were stripped and rusted, unfortunately they got mixed up so now Im having trouble figureing out what goes to what, does anyone know, or know where I can find out, what bolts are used for t-5 to bellhousing and bellhousing to flywheel, also mabey where I can find them, thanks )

Re: Bolt question
If they are stripped and rusted, why would you bother putting them back in???
You can get new ones from a Ford dealer, Summit Racing, Jegs or any other auto parts store. |
Re: Bolt question
If You Have At Least One Of The Bolts Go To Your Local Auto Parts Store And You Could Get All Of Them For Under $7.00

Re: Bolt question
Bellhousing to engine takes 7/16-14 bolts, you will have to get the correct length on your own because there are different lengths. The 4 bolts that hold the transmission to the bellhousing are metric and I believe they are 12mm x 1.75. These should all be the same length. Your flywheel bolts are the ones that have the thin head on them. I am pretty sure they are 1/2-20 about 1 1/2" long. These should be pretty apparent in the box of bolts you have now. There are 6 of these and they are all the same. The pressure plate bolts are 8mm x 1.25 about 3/4 long. There are 6 of these too. You will not be able to get every one of these bolts at the auto parts store. I know they don't have the flywheel bolts. But the rest of them you can get. They won't be identical, but you can get some that will work.

Re: Bolt question
GRADE 8 BOLTS on the flywheel, pressure plate, and bellhousing!!
I put grade 8 in EVERYTHING, but what I just mentioned is paramount. ARP makes flywheel bolts, those are gonna be the hard ones to find at the parts stores. |
