Brake Upgrade Options
Hi Folks:
I just finished my first round of upgrades (suspension, exhaust, and a few other tweaks) to my 87 LX 5.0 convertible. I think the second round needs to be brakes, not exactly this car's strong point. Anybody have an opinion about improving brakes? Not for racing, not for show, just something a little safer for street use. As always, thanks for your time. Paul |
Me too. What will work with 16" wheels and what needs an upgrade to 17" rims? I've seen ads for "big brake kits". Will those fit inside the 16s?

Most of those "big brake kits" like the M-2300-K require 17in wheels, but those will give you the most stopping power by far. Thats probably not what you want, its more of a thing for road racing. On brakes, the best thing to do would probably be a rear disc conversion and/or better rotors up front (eg, drilled/dimpled) and better pads (metallic instead of the stock semi-metallic). http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2...ors/index.shtm
Check that out. I think thats one of the best upgrades for the money in braking. Also, on brake pads: http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2...ds/index.shtml ------------------ ABit KT7, T-Bird 900@1100, PAL6035-2, 256M pc133, 20gb@7200rpm, MP7040A, PC-DVD 6x, Viper V770, SB Live |
